Police in Matuga are investigating a suspected murder following a fatal assault that occurred on the night of February 14, 2026, in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Wakiso District.
The deceased has been identified as Bukenya Martin, an 18-year-old student of Hillside Secondary School, and a resident of Kirinyabigo in Kawanda-Nabweru Division.
According to preliminary findings, the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. at a residence in Mabanda Cell. It is alleged that Bukenya was found inside the home of a man identified only as Herbert. Police say that Herbert reportedly discovered the student in the house with his 14-year-old daughter, prompting a violent confrontation.

During the altercation, Bukenya was allegedly assaulted and sustained serious injuries. Authorities report that he later succumbed to those injuries.
