Police in Kampala have launched investigations into circumstances surrounding a Primary Five pupil who was found hanging dead in the school dormitory.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said on Wednesday identified the deceased as a 14-year-old John Terry Kisekka of Kololo Junior School, Kayunga Cell, Gombe Ward, Wakiso Town Council, Wakiso District.
Kawala on Wednesday said the incident happened on Tuesday when Kisekka was found hanging in the school dormitory.

“Preliminary findings indicate that at about 8:00pm, as pupils returned to the dormitory from evening prep, they found Terry hanging inside the dormitory. They immediately informed the matron, who notified the school director. Police were later informed,” Kawala said.
She said officers found the body suspended with a red scarf tied to a roofing pole inside one of the school dormitories.
“The school director and the matron have been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations. The body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.”
She said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide.
“We urge schools, parents, and guardians to promptly report to the police or seek professional help whenever signs of depression or distress are observed in children. Taking time to talk to children, both at school and at home, is crucial.”
