Fire has destroyed property in the girls’ dormitory at Midland Junior School in Bulindo Village, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, prompting police to launch investigations into its cause.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the fire broke out on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that the blaze started from an unknown source in the girls’ dormitory, which accommodates Primary Six and Primary Seven pupils.

Police officers, working alongside the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services, responded swiftly to the scene and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the school.
Scene of Crime Officers have since examined the affected area and recorded statements from witnesses as part of the ongoing investigations.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
Police said investigations are continuing to establish the exact cause of the fire, adding that further updates will be provided once more information becomes available.
