Police in Wandegeya have arrested two suspects found wandering at night while armed with dangerous weapons during a routine patrol in Kampala.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the suspects as Omirambe Nizara, 18, and Ochom Daniel, 23, both residents of Kawempe Division in Kampala District.
According to Owoyesigyire, the arrests were made in the early hours of March 18, 2026, at around 12:23am. Officers attached to Kikoni B Police Station were conducting a routine patrol near Nyumbani Hotel when they encountered a group of about six youths.

“The officers encountered a group of about six youths who fled upon seeing the police. Two suspects were apprehended. Upon search, one of the suspects, Omirambe Nizara, was found in possession of a panga and a knife concealed on his person,” Owoyesigyire said.
The two suspects are currently being held at Wandegeya Police Division as investigations continue. Police have prepared a case file, which is pending submission to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down the other individuals who fled the scene as investigations continue.
