The pedestrian, identified as Batera Flavia, a resident of Kyengera, died instantly at the scene.
A tragic road traffic accident occurred on Wednesday morning at Kibukula Swamp along the busy Kampala–Masaka Highway, claiming the life of a pedestrian.
The Traffic Police Spokesperson, Michael Kananura confirmed that the crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, registration number UBR 811D, carrying the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Judith Nabakooba. The pedestrian, identified as Batera Flavia, a resident of Kyengera, died instantly at the scene.
Kananura stated that both the Minister and the vehicle driver sustained minor injuries. They were immediately taken to Nkozi Hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

“The body of the deceased has been taken to Gombe Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination. The vehicle involved has been secured at the police station pending further inspection as investigations commence,” Kananura said.
Authorities are appealing to motorists and pedestrians to exercise extra caution along major highways as investigations into the circumstances of the accident continue.
The Uganda Police Force has assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to determine the cause of the collision.
