Shock and grief have engulfed the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) community following the sudden death of a third-year student who reportedly collapsed while preparing for examinations.
The deceased has been identified as Marvin Nowembabazi, popularly known among friends as “Mosh,” a student pursuing a Bachelor of Procurement degree under the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
According to fellow students, Nowembabazi was attending a group discussion on campus on Friday morning as part of preparations for end-of-semester examinations when he suddenly collapsed. He was later pronounced dead.
The university administration confirmed the incident through the Dean of Students, Ambrose K. Mugisha, who described the death as untimely and deeply painful to the institution.

“Mbarara University of Science and Technology regrets to announce the untimely passing of Mr. Nowembabazi Marvin, a student from the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (BPSM III), who passed away on May 29, 2026,” Mugisha said in a statement.
He extended condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, classmates, and the entire university fraternity during the difficult moment.
