Three people have died and 10 others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving a Toyota Hiace Drone registration number UA 836AM in Bushenyi District.
The crash occurred at about 4:40pm on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Omukatagu along the Ishaka–Kagamba Road.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle after failing to negotiate a corner, reportedly due to excessive speed.
The vehicle was transporting mourners from Kashaka in Mbarara District to Rwererere in Rukungiri District, travelling through the Ishaka–Kagamba route when the crash occurred.
The injured victims were rushed to KIU Teaching Hospital and Kitagata Hospital, where they received medical attention.
Police have urged motorists to exercise caution and observe speed limits, particularly when approaching corners and other high-risk sections of roads.
Authorities warned that excessive speed reduces a driver’s ability to react in time and safely negotiate bends, increasing the risk of serious crashes and loss of lives.
Motorists have been encouraged to prioritise road safety and ensure they arrive alive at their destinations.
