Kavuma was subsequently arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and charged with forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.

The Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced Kavuma Ibrahim to three and a half years in prison for his role in a property fraud scheme through which he and his accomplices obtained $205,556 (about sh740m) from a victim.

The court also ordered Kavuma to refund sh70m to the victim and forfeited sh8,004,700, $2,000 and a motor vehicle recovered from him during his arrest. The forfeited assets are to be used towards compensating the victim.

The case stems from an incident on July 15, 2025, when Kavuma and other suspects, who are still at large, allegedly used forged property documents to deceive the victim into believing that Kavuma was the legitimate owner of the property.

The documents included a certificate of title, sale agreements and transfer forms, which the suspects allegedly used to facilitate the fraudulent transaction.

Through the scheme, Kavuma and his accomplices obtained $205,556, equivalent to approximately sh740m, from the victim.

Kavuma was subsequently arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and charged with forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.

The court’s sentence and forfeiture orders are intended to ensure accountability and facilitate compensation for the victim, while investigations or proceedings involving the other suspects may continue.

The other suspects remain at large, according to the information provided.
