Despite the allegations of corruption & abuse of office that have dominated the public, against her reign as Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among has revealed that she has one term left to serve as Speaker of Parliament. Among says she will later handover power, because there is no reason for clinging onto power.

She made the remarks during the opening of the sh2.7Bn St.Charles Lwanga Kigarama Church that is said to have been built through funds raised by Tayebwa and his friends from the business community.

The ceremony also coincided with the Thanksgiving held to celebrate 80years of Daudi Bangirana, the father to Deputy Speaker Tayebwa, in Mitooma district.

For the whole of last week, youths have been staging anti-corruption protests in Uganda’s Capital Kampala asking for Among’s resignation. According to police, over 150 were arrested, charged in courts of law and remanded to Luzira prison pending bail applications.
