Last Friday, the EC through the Uganda Gazette, declared that PFF had fulfilled all the required formalities including acquisition of an endorsement of signatures from 97 districts.
Dr. Kizza Besigye’s incarceration for over six months now on charges connected to treason has offered no deterrence for registration of his new political party the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), as the Electoral Commission (EC) has endorsed it as a legally formed political party.
Amidst merry making, the party’s leaders including Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago are swearing to give a running nose to traditional parties like the National Unity Platform (NUP), the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) from which the PFF emerged as a splinter group.
And in what sounds rather controversial, Erias Lukwago said they are going to work hand in hand with older parties to get down to the people to internalize their requirements as far as leadership change and the fight for justice is concerned, because he noted, many people including their own Dr. Besigye are languishing in jail.
Kenya’s Martha Karua Deported Back to Nairobi After Airport Standoff
Last Friday, the EC through the Uganda Gazette, declared that PFF had fulfilled all the required formalities including acquisition of an endorsement of signatures from 97 districts. Lukwago has already declared that they are going to field candidates at all electable positions.
Meanwhile, it has surfaced that one Dr. Kizza’s defence lawyers, Kenyan Martha Karua has been deported by Tanzanian authorities after her arrest on a mission to plead for opposition politician Tundu Lussu.
Information shows that Karua was intercepted on Sunday, shortly after landing at Julius Nyerere International Airport, detained at the facility and later deported. She was preparing to appear as Lussu’s defence lawyer in a case taking off on Monday.
