As the insecurity in Mukono district kept on deteriorating day and night, armed assailants on Saturday night stormed Stabex Fuel Station located at Kisoga village in Ntenjeru-Kisoga Town Council in Mukono district, injuring two people including a pump attendant and a private security guard.

The assailants are said to have stolen an unidentified amount of money and later disappeared with the gun belonging to a private security guard who was manning the station after severely injuring him.

It is reported that the attack happened at midnight involving armed men also holding machetes, severely stabbing the security guard and a pump attendant.

The victims have been identified as Patrick Aliki, a security guard attached to Ultimate Security limited, and Brian Ssentubwe, a pump attendant at Stabex Fuel Station.

Aliki sustained a deep stab wound on the head, while Ssentubwe was stabbed in the eye. Both were initially rushed to Herona Hospital in Kisoga, before being referred to Mulago Hospital in Kampala for advanced treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

According to eyewitnesses and security footage, the attackers moved around the station for several minutes before striking. Rasuud Bazibu, an employee who narrowly escaped, described the terrifying scene.

“They came with knives, guns, and torches. I saw them on camera moving around. It all happened so fast,” Bazibu said. “We didn’t have a chance to defend ourselves.”

Local police from Mukono and Kisoga responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. However, the suspects had already fled, and no arrests had been made by press time.

Herona Hospital spokesperson Robert Ssekitto showed concern over the increasing number of violent cases being handled at the facility in recent weeks resulting from the deteriorating insecurity in the area.

Residents have also demanded that private security companies be held accountable for deploying poorly trained or under-equipped guards, as incidents involving unresponsive or malfunctioning weapons continue to rise.

Rehema Namuyanja, the area councilor for Kisoga Ward, condemned the attack and called for military intervention.

“The situation is deteriorating day by day. Our people are living in fear. We urge the government to deploy the army to carry out night operations and help restore order,” Namuyanja said.
