Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa.

After losing the bid to retain the National Unity Party (NUP) flag for Mukono district chairmanship, Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, has publicly announced the shifting of goal posts from the LC5 seat to Mukono Municipality parliamentary seat.

Bakaluba is to vie on on independent ticket, a clear manifestation that he is to faceoff with the incumbent, Betty Nambooze Bakireke, the biggest bidder amongst those who are seeking the NUP flag for the seat.

A member of the ruling NRM party then, Bakaluba who was a parliamentary representative for Mukono North over the last two decades was unseated by Nambooze who was then a member of the Democratic Party.

Because there is no permanent enemy in politics, Nambooze helped Bakaluba to become the district chairperson when she welcomed him to NUP and led him to the party Principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

Their hard-earned relationship however did not last long, after getting into power and Bakaluba accuses the latter for witch-hunt when she allegedly decided to change the mind of Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga, who had requested for the ticket for Mukono South constituency to again take the ticket for the district chairmanship which he (Bakaluba) had solely requested for.

As a result, Bakaluba was dumped, giving a leeway to Muyanja who was later graced with the flag.
Bakalaba has declared his independent Mukono Municipality parliamentary bid today on Sunday September 7, 2025 while addressing hundreds of Muslims gathered at Seeta for the grand opening of Masjid Noor Seeta in Gom division.

We are only left with one task to watch the space, whether Nambooze will be able to defeat Bakaluba for the second time or he will use the chance to unseat the Madam Teacher’s 20 years of leadership.

Bakaluba donated a one million shillings for the construction of the Mosque.
