Nabuyungo died after being admitted at St. Francis Hospital Naggalama and, besides being a teacher for 36 years, the 61-year-old has also been the Assistant Commissioner for Girls Guides in Greater Mukono.

Burial arrangements of renowned Mukono headteacher, Mary Josephine Nabuyungo of St. Joseph’s Mixed Primary School Naggalama have been released.
Nabuyungo, who breathed her last breath on Tuesday October 28, 2025 at St. Francis Naggalama Hospital will be buried on Saturday November 01, 2025 at Namanoga village in Seeta-Namuganga sub-county, Mukono district.
According to the programme, there will be two requiem masses, one at St. Joseph’s Mixed Primary School on Thursday October 30, 2025 at 10:00am and another one at the deceased’s home at Namubiru village in Nama sub-county at 2:00pm.


On Friday, a requiem mass will be held at Lugazi Cathedral at 10:00am and another one at Naggalama parish at 2:00pm.
Her burial will be held on Saturday on November 1, at Namanoga village in Seeta-Namuganga sub-county starting with the mass at 1:00pm and followed with the burial at 4:00pm.
Nabuyungo died after being admitted at St. Francis Hospital Naggalama and, besides being a teacher for 36 years, the 61-year-old has also been the Assistant Commissioner for Girls Guides in Greater Mukono (Mukono, Kayunga, Buikwe and Buvuma districts), and one of the initiators of Mukono Teachers’ SACCO.

She has also been a key player in the Catholic Church in Lugazi diocese, holding a number of positions on different boards, including a member on the board of directors for Caritas Lugazi.
The deceased was born in Luwero district from where her parents shifted to Kasawo sub-county in Mukono district to escape from the 1981-1986 NRA bush war.
She has also been the president of the Friends of Mother Kevin, an organization which supports the work of the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi which was founded by Mother Mary Kevin Kearney.
