Worshippers attending Jumah prayers at Masjid Taqwa in Busiika, Luweero district were on Friday forced to cut their prayers short after a baboon stormed into a local mosque, causing panic and confusion.

The Muslims had gathered for their weekly congregational prayers when the unexpected visitor forced its way into the mosque, interrupting the solemn moment. Startled by the sudden intrusion, the faithful hurried out of the mosque without even thinking of their shoes just to avoid any possible harm.

Despite the commotion, no injuries were reported.

In a bid to prevent the situation from escalating, quick-thinking worshippers placed yellow bananas inside the mosque to divert the baboon’s attention. As the animal focused on the fruit, they managed to safely lock it inside the mosque and alerted the authorities.

Officials from the Uganda Wildlife Authority responded promptly, rescuing the baboon and transferring it to Murchison Falls National Park, where it was reportedly reunited with its troop.
