In the same vein the headteacher pointed out, the school has gone an extra mile by stepping up out-of-school approaches including excursions, study visits and other learning visits to institutions like hospitals, banks, hotels and other social facilities, all in the name of exposing them to a holistic type of education.

The management of Cornerstone Junior School Mukono Campus has mastered the new method of teaching where they incorporated an additional competence and skilling ingredient in the teaching method, a special programme to stimulate the learners’ hidden talents through membership clubs.

The arrangement which is facilitated by expert trainers, involves specialized training in sporting activities, baking and cooking, handiwork, business skills and other activities.
The headteacher, Immaculate Mawanda made the above revelation on 29th November 2025 during this year’s annual Top Class graduation.

The graduation which saw 111 pupils commissioned to Primary level after completing three years of numeracy and literacy training, was held under the theme “Breaking Barriers”, and was dedicated to the school’s 20th anniversary of existence and was officiated over by one of the school’s prominent parents, Dr. Stephen Kaate.

Mawanda noted, “We no longer have to wait for the children to end university studies and then engage in business ventures; they must be trained well in advance through hands-on-skilling, and the other component of the package is the mother-father talk which gives the learners the opportunity to express themselves,” she noted.

In the same vein the headteacher pointed out, the school has gone an extra mile by stepping up out-of-school approaches including excursions, study visits and other learning visits to institutions like hospitals, banks, hotels and other social facilities, all in the name of exposing them to a holistic type of education.

Addressing their pupils, old students, parents, teachers and well-wishers, the guest of honour, Dr. Stephen Kaate encouraged parents to continue sacrificing for their children’s education at the school, saying it has been tested by time and found to be a provider of reliable education for the future of their children.

Nagawa Daniella, an alumnus of the school, underscored the importance of teaching the children their mother tongues as a beginning point of instilling in them their cultural values, at the cost of stressing English and other foreign languages and traditions.

Nagawa who is in S6 at Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga SS, which she joined after scoring Aggregate Four at Cornerstone, observed that it would be shameful for the nation’s children not to thoroughly know their cultures and be more conversant with foreign norms.
Children, mainly of Nursery level showcased different items in the package of Music Dance and Drama.
