The prosecution further alleges that while at his home, Nsubuga defiled the girl and infected her with HIV, despite allegedly knowing his HIV status.

Iganga Grade One Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 40-year-old man accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl and allegedly infecting her with HIV/AIDS, knowing that he was living with the virus.
Charles Kato Nsubuga appeared before Grade One Magistrate Ali Tibenkana on Tuesday for the mention of his case.
Prosecution alleges that Nsubuga, a resident of Kabimbiri Village in Kasawo, Mukono District, committed the offences in September this year after allegedly deceiving the girl that he would help her secure a job.
Court heard that Nsubuga picked the girl from Iganga town without the knowledge of her parents and took her to his home in Kabimbiri, where he allegedly kept her as his wife.
The prosecution further alleges that while at his home, Nsubuga defiled the girl and infected her with HIV, despite allegedly knowing his HIV status.
Magistrate Tibenkana said the offence was capital in nature and that the court could not allow Nsubuga to take plea at that stage.
He remanded Nsubuga to Iganga Prison until November 17, when he is expected to return to court.
