Mukono Territorial Police are investigating a case of sodomy involving seven male pupils of Albright Junior School located in Ggulu ward Mukono Central division Mukono municipality following the arrest of a 24-year-old teacher, Director of Studies Gerald Lukyamuzi.

The case, registered under SD Ref 39/10/19/2026, was reported on October 19, 2026. Police say Lukyamuzi is alleged to have taken the pupils from school and sexually abused them at his residence between February and October 2026.

The arrest followed a school meeting in which Primary Seven pupils were asked to discuss with their parents any challenges they were facing as they prepared for the Primary Leaving Examinations.

One of the pupils informed his parents about the alleged abuse, prompting the parents to report the matter to police. Officers then visited the school and launched investigations.

According to sources, the suspect is said to have admitted starting the alleged abuse while teaching at a school in Luweero and continuing the practice until his arrest.

It is further claimed that Lukyamuzi had taken in one of his former pupils after promising the boy’s parents he would support him with school fees, only to allegedly abuse him over an extended period.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala said officers have rescued and interviewed the victims, conducted medical examinations, visited the alleged crime scene and recorded statements from the complainant, parents and other witnesses.

She also confirmed that the accused has been charged with aggravated defilement.

She also confirmed the arrest of Lukyamuzi for questioning as investigations continue. “Police are also recording statements from school administrators and tracing other individuals who may be relevant to the case. The case file will be submitted to the relevant legal authorities for guidance and further action.”

Police strongly condemn all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation of children. They have urged parents, guardians and school administrators to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspected cases of child abuse.

Members of the public have been reminded to respect the privacy and dignity of the affected children by refraining from sharing any information that could identify them while investigations continue.
