Nabatanzi’s argument was that being the official wife and mother to Lugudde’s six children, she could not accept him to take away the land, leaving her and their children in the cold.
Former Presidential Advisor, Dr. Elizabeth Nabatanzi Lugudde and her former husband, Sam Lugudde have agreed to bury their hatchet and settle a family disagreement which has dragged for over 20 years out of court.
The couple has six children and it has been nursing a court case over their land measuring 514 acres located at Bbaale village in Nyimbwa sub-county, Luweero district, on which Dr. Nabatanzi had lodged a caveat.
Lugudde is said to have developed a misunderstanding with his wife while he was in America where he stayed for over 20 years as he had entrusted the family land with her wife, Dr. Nabatanzi.
However, upon getting the misunderstanding, Lugudde planned to withdraw his land from Nabatanzi but he realized that she had already lodged a caveat on it.
Nabatanzi’s argument was that being the official wife and mother to Lugudde’s six children, she could not accept him to take away the land, leaving her and their children in the cold.
But in a dramatic turn of events, the two, to the surprise of the Luweero High Court Judge, Henrietta Wolayo agreed to amicably settle their disagreement out of court.
Through their lawyers, Richard Balungi of Balungi Bugina and Company Advocates who represented Sam Lugudde and Sauda Nsereko from Nsereko Mohamed and Company Advocates who represented Dr. Nabatanzi produced a document before the Judge indicating that they had amicably settled their disagreement.
According to the contents of the agreement, it had been agreed that Dr. Nabatanzi and her children take 314 acres of land while Lugudde settles for 200 acres.

Nabatanzi and her children, in addition to the 314 acres, also took the home on the land which is also the family’s burial ground. Before the Judge, Nabatanzi accepted to dislodge the caveat from the land. She said that she had kept the land for the last 42 years.
“I am officially married to Lugudde and I still love him…,” she said. However, after the adjournment of the court, Lugudde did not accept to take an interview and he just majestically moved out of the court.
