The Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail of Sh5m to Jimmy Turyagyenda, 63, a former head teacher of Ntare School, who is facing charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss to the Government.

Principal Magistrate Christopher Opit granted Turyagyenda bail after he presented substantial sureties and proof that part of the money allegedly owed to the Government by the accused had been transferred to the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) Asset Recovery Bank Account.

Turyagyenda is jointly charged with the current Ntare School head teacher, Saul Rwampororo, and Peace Kebirungi, a former office typist at the school.

The trio is accused of abusing their offices and causing financial loss of sh110m to the Government.

Turyagyenda denied the charges and is expected to return to court on November 20, 2026, for further proceedings.

Meanwhile, Rwampororo, who is currently out on IGG bond, was expected to appear before the Inspectorate of Government to record a charge and caution statement but failed to turn up.

Kebirungi reportedly appeared before the IGG but left before recording her statement.

The case is part of the IGG’s efforts to investigate alleged financial irregularities involving public institutions.
