Reports further indicate that particulars pertaining to the murder of Kagezi, Kaweesi, and Sheikh Hassan Ibrahim Kirya murdered on 30th March 2015 at Bweyogerere, all corroborate.
Nixon Agasirwe: From Grass to Grace-Some of His Deadly Operations Disclosed
Troubled former police Special Operations Unit (SOU) Director Nixon Agasirwe now on charges of murdering former state prosecutor Joan Namazzi Kagezi, is undergoing a fresh bout of harsh grilling by operatives of the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS), the Joint Anti-Terrorism Team (JATT), Crime Intelligence, the Criminal Investigations and Investigations Department (CIID) and other security agencies, over yet other murder charges.
Sources indicate that Agasirwe is likely to face more murder charges of former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi and twelve sheikhs. Kaweesi was shot dead on March 17, 2017 as he left his home in Kulambiro destined for Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono for a meeting.
After shooting Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Arau and driver Godfrey Wambewa, his assailants, travelling on motorcycles, allegedly drew closer to his car, a TOYOTA Land Cruiser TXL registration number UP 4778, opened his door and shot him several rounds at point blank range.

Forensic experts at Naggulu and at the Government Analytical laboratory Wandegeya confirmed that the shells recovered from the murder scene were from different calibres of guns, and later sent them abroad for more specialized examination.
Reports further indicate that particulars pertaining to the murder of Kagezi, Kaweesi, and Sheikh Hassan Ibrahim Kirya murdered on 30th March 2015 at Bweyogerere, all corroborate. Other Muslims whose death circumstances tally with all the above murders include Sheikh Mustaph Bahiga killed on December 28, 2014 at Bwebajja, Sheikh Abdul Rashid Wafula killed on May 21, 2015 at Nakaloke in Mbale, Ismael Ssebuggwawo killed on January 6, 2015 at Mulago, and Abdul Kadhir Muwaya killed in December 2014 at Mayuge.
Others include; Abdul Jawal Ssentunga killed in 2012 at Bugiri, Abubaker Yunus Mudungu killed in August 2012 at Bugiri, Haji Abubaker Kiweewa Kigejjogejjo killed in June 2011 at Kyanja, and Abdul Karim Ssentamu killed in April 2012 on William Street in Kampala.
Security investigators said that although several arrests have been made, they have not yet come to a conclusive truth on who the real murderer is, and they believe that ongoing arrests will eventually help them zero in on the real killer.
They further point out that Kaweesi’s and Kagezi’s murders have certain things in common; at the time of Kagezi’s death, Kaweesi was the KMP commander, was the first to report at Kagezi murder scene, and when he was later made director for special operations unit doubling as the police spokesperson, all investigations pertaining to Kagezi’s murder were known to him.
Since Kagezi’s death, several suspects have been arrested including John Masajjage alias Brian Mubiru, 50, Ezra Muko, Bosco alias Acid, Ssemakula Nyaru, Stephen Tumusiime, Eric Lubega, Wilfred Nganizi and Ssalongo Ssenyingo. They were detained at Katwe police and police spokesperson then Fred Enanga declared to journalists that Kagezi’s murderer had been arrested. Shortly after, police apologized that there was a mix up of identity.
On the night of Kagezi’s murder, thugs attacked and shot a mobile money agent identified as Phiona Kwikiriza at Kajjansi, and Masajjage was charged for attempted murder of Kwikiriza.
Investigators indicate that Agasirwe was attached to this crime and are now trying to establish how Masajjage’s name was struck from Kagezi murder file and appended to the attempted murder and armed robbery case.
Currently, Kagezi’s murder file remains with suspects including Kibuuka who was a UPDF soldier, Masajjage, Nasur Abdallah Munogole and John Kibuuka. It is alleged that Kibuuka was the contact through whom Kiwanuka allegedly learned that it is Nixon who hired the team.
Kiwanuka is now a state witness after pleading guilty to the offence of Kagezi murder. He was sentenced to 35 years for the offence, and acquitted of terrorism.
