Out of the blue, rain started falling immediately NRM’ Kasule Lumumba introduced Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine among the congregants during the celebration of the Uganda Martyr’s day at Namugongo Catholic Shrine.
Uganda’s Minister in Charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, Justine Kasule Lumumba was tasked by the clergy to introduce special guests in attendance.
However, whispers were heard among the congregants when Lumumba seemed to intentionally skip introducing Kyagulanyi, the National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal despite sitting at the front line of the VIP wing.
After introducing among others the Prime Minister, Robina Nabbanja, the former Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, the Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Kadumbula Nadyope VI and different Members of Parliament, she then mentioned ‘Kyagulanyi’.
As if it was the only mention the entire congregation was waiting for, they all shouted out loudly, made a thunderous clapping and to everyone’s surprise, heavens opened up for rains.
It did not only rain, but also a glitter of sunshine was noticed. It is at this very moment when Kyagulanyi stood up and left the function. His departure further caused a lot of cheering and ululations, a good number of people followed him up to his vehicle.
Across the globe, in some cultures rain signifies happiness, break of drought, cleansing from sadness and tough times from your past and a new chapter in your life.
Nonetheless, the Prime Minister was invited by Lumumba to read President Museveni’s massage before pilgrims received the final blessing to return home.
Martyr’s day is observed every June 3, at Namugongo Catholic Martyr’s Shrine. Thousands of pilgrims walk from different parts of the country and beyond to be part of celebration. This year’s celebration has been animated by Jinja Diocese and main celebrant being Bishop Charles Martin Wamika.
