In a remarkable display of determination and resilience, inmates at Mbale Main Prison have defied the odds to achieve impressive results in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). All 23 male candidates who sat the exams passed with flying colors, with no failures recorded.
The top performer, Oinyaga Bosco, led the pack with an impressive aggregate 14, followed closely by Onyunyu Nathan Elvis with an aggregate 16. Three other inmates, Kadugala Emmanuel Trevor, Namwokoyi Gerald, and Wakinya Patrick Fred, tied at aggregate 18, securing Division 2.

The 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results were released on January 30, 2026, by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). Here are some key statistics from the results:

– A total of 817,883 candidates registered for the exams at 15,388 examination centres.
– 91,990 students passed in Division One, 388,293 in Division Two, 165,226 in Division Three, and 84,724 in Division Four.
– 77,080 candidates (19.04%) were ungraded.
– More girls (52.4%) completed the Primary Education cycle than boys (47.6%).
– 3,636 learners with Special Needs participated in the exams.
