Seeta University, the youngest institution of higher learning in the country, located at Mbalala village in Nama sub-county, Mukono district was commissioned by the bishop of Lugazi diocese, Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza.
The State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo has revealed that he conceived the idea of setting up a university several decades ago.
Muyingo says he therefore started working towards fulfilling his dream, taking one step at a time.
“After acquiring a higher education management degree from Makerere University in 1986, I developed the idea of starting a higher institution of learning. Without any ability to put the big dream into reality then, I started working towards fulfilling it slowly by slowly. I am therefore grateful that my dream has come to pass, 39 years down the road,” the minister revealed.
He made the revelation on Saturday after the commissioning of Seeta University, a sister institution to Seeta High Schools, which celebrated 25 years of existence on the same day.

Seeta University, the youngest institution of higher learning in the country, located at Mbalala village in Nama sub-county, Mukono district was commissioned by the bishop of Lugazi diocese, Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza. The function coincided with the silver jubilee celebrations for Seeta High Schools held at the Mbalala Campus.
Dr. Muyingo expressed appreciation to God for having enabled him to identify helpful partners who have helped him turn his dream into a reality, citing his wife, Rose Muyingo whom he said has always been helpful and supportive on whatever idea he brings on table.
He asked Bp. Kakooza to bless the institution and pray for the team to get enough strength, courage and support to put up an institution that will produce God fearing products that will serve Him, adding that their underlying objective is to evangelize through whatever they do.
In his speech, Bp. Kakooza thanked Dr. Muyingo for the far sightedness to set the university at a prime location, in a diocese with many first-class schools and on a highway where passersby can easily see and get attracted to it.
He said Lugazi diocese which comprises four districts of Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga and Buvuma has a population of two million people with the majority being children who need better education facilities like this university.
On the side of spiritual nourishment to both the students and members of staff, Kakooza said he was ready to assign both Reverend Fathers and Sisters to do the work.
Addressing the silver jubilee congregation, Bishop Kakooza said he is amazed by the secret code employed by management of Seeta schools, which he noted, is characterized by magic tactics including discipline, dedication and devotion to both their work and God the creator.

The prelate said, “There is a high degree of orderliness which translates into efficiency, adherence to the rules and regulations of their institutions, and giving enough time to what they are assigned to do, and all the time remembering that it is God who gives them the intelligence, power and protection to fulfil their work.
“Ensure to work hard when you set goals, have perseverance and zeal, and adherence to regulations to avoid having each one do what pleases him or her; it is the best way of maintaining and controlling behavior”, he said.
Later, the bishop administered the confirmation sacrament to learners from all the campuses of Seeta High and Junior Schools, and blessed those who renewed their baptism vows to remain committed and attached to Jesus and to adhere to their obligations.

The University Administrator, Ronald Mbago said that the university is set to officially open normal class business on August 4, 2025.
Mbago reported that much attachment has been given to the science courses with the state of art facilities like laboratories already put in place.
Mbago further said they are also going to give much attention to sports and games in a bid to get to a stage where the university can host international sports events and to awaken hidden co-curricular talents among the learners.

The President of Seeta High School Old Students Association (SHOSA) Lt. Allan Yesero Kunya appreciated Dr. Muyingo for what he has done for the education sector in the country, both as a minister and as a founder of schools at all levels.
Elaborating, Lt. Kunya said that going through 25 years with something viable to show like the Seet High institutions is a no mean achievement.
At the silver jubilee events, the learners treated the guests to a host of entertainment items including cultural dances, poems, and creative music.
