The school’s headteacher, Brian Sserugo, said the school had adequately prepared the 212 candidates and expressed confidence that they would all attain Division One, improving on last year’s performance.

Religious leaders from the Catholic, Anglican, Pentecostal and Muslim faiths have joined parents and teachers of Seeta Junior School, Mukono Campus, in dedicating 212 candidates ahead of the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The prayer session, held on Friday, brought together clerics who led the candidates in worship, praise and prayers, seeking God’s blessings and guidance as they prepare to sit their examinations on November 3 and 4.

The prayers were led by Fr. Raymond Kalanzi, the National Director of Catholic Church’s Radio Maria, alongside Fr. Mark Dagan Mulyanti of Jinja Catholic Diocese, Fr. Vianney Kyeyune of Buguju Parish, who also serves as the school’s Catholic chaplain, and Rev. Derrick Kaddu Mbojjana of Ndese Parish in Kasawo.

Other religious leaders included Anglican lay reader Irene Milka Wonyanye, Pentecostal pastor Stephen Ssengendo and Sheikh Kinene Mutyaba, the school’s Muslim chaplain, who led the Muslim faithful.

During the ceremony, Fr. Kalanzi prayed for the candidates, anointed them with oil and sprinkled them with holy water.

In his message, he urged the learners to approach their examinations with faith and confidence, saying they should overcome fear and put trust in Jesus Christ.

“Once you cling to the Lord and put your faith in His name, trust me, you will surprise many, including your teachers. Just keep your dreams big and make big sacrifices. It is never too late; it is now or never. With hard work as well, you are going to move mountains,” he said.

Fr. Kyeyune urged parents to make prayer a consistent part of their children’s upbringing rather than turning to God only when examinations or other difficult moments arise.

“We should stop the habit of praying for candidates to pass examinations with flying colours, forgetting the rest of their lives outside examinations. We should always keep our children in prayer, and those prayers should be general, covering their entire lives,” he said.

The school’s headteacher, Brian Sserugo, said the school had adequately prepared the 212 candidates and expressed confidence that they would all attain Division One, improving on last year’s performance.

“Parents should expect the best from these candidates. Most of them have been with us from nursery to date. We have therefore known them for more than 10 years, and they also know us. We have confidence in them when it comes to producing the best grades,” he said.

Dr. Maurice Tamale, the Seeta University Vice-Chancellor in charge of Finance and chairperson of the Seeta Schools board, thanked parents for entrusting the institution with their children.

He urged parents to closely monitor and support the candidates during the examination period, warning against neglecting them at a time when they need guidance and encouragement.

“We are going to return these young people to you. It is my appeal that during this period, you take good care of them. They have dreams they want to fulfil. Do not neglect them or let them get spoilt during this short period. I know you are never at home,” he said.

The students also entertained their parents and other guests with a variety of performances, keeping the audience engaged and in high spirits throughout the event.
