After the incident, Ssenyonga and Ssenyonjo were rushed to Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital but following their worsening health conditions, they were referred to Mengo Hospital.

Family members and close friends to former Mukono district chairperson, Andrew Ssenyonga have disputed rumors taking rounds on social media that he is dead.

“Though he is still ill and admitted, he is not dead. Let the public dispute misleading information which has created tension surrounding our beloved friend’s health,” said one of the close friends Kyaggwe TV contacted for clarity on Sunday morning.

He said Ssenyonga is still admitted at Mengo Hospital with all the efforts being done to have him recover. Unfortunately, our source revealed that it is instead Lauben Ssenyonjo, his brother, who is a youth councillor at Mukono district council who is in a very poor condition.

Joy, Tears at the Final Count of the NRM Parliamentary In-House elections

Ssenyonga and Ssenyonjo were on Thursday night bitterly beaten to coma by police officers at Mukono Police Station when they had gone to check on the Goma Division NRM Registrar who had been arrested on allegations of tampering with the parliamentary party primaries results.

Eyewitnesses recounted that Ssenyonga had led a group of over 30 supporters to storm the police with intentions of finding out what exactly had caused the arrest of Joseph Sulume, the Goma division registrar.

After the incident, Ssenyonga and Ssenyonjo were rushed to Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital but following their worsening health conditions, they were referred to Mengo Hospital. The duo was severely injured by the police officers and unconscious.

However, Mukono Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Hassan Kasibante told the media that Ssenyonga had mobilized his supporters who were armed to attack Mukono police and steal guns, something which forced the police officers to use force to repulse them.

Mukono NRM Candidate Attempted to Steal Guns from Police, Says Deputy RDC

“I have been informed that Ssenyonga was in the company of over 100 supporters at around 10:00pm when he stormed the police station. To make matters worse, they were armed with machetes and sticks, something the police officers would not just let go like that,” Kasibante said on Thursday night.

However, some of the eyewitnesses denied the RDC’s message saying it was false and aimed at tarnishing the already injured people’s reputation.

Shadrack Kiralire, who was among the supporters who were with Ssenyonga during the time of the scuffle said they were not armed and that they were about 30 in number.

“Because we thought it was at Police where we would get redress on things which we had noted were not going on well, we resolved to get there, only to get the opposite. The people whom we thought would protect us, instead opened terror against us,” he narrated.

To date, the police have not yet come out with any official statement regarding the allegations.
