Jaguar Bus Kills Eight People on Masaka-Kampala Highway

Eight people were on Sunday early morning confirmed dead following a fatal road crash. According to a Traffic Police statement, the deadly road crash that happened at around 3:30am left 20 people injured.

The crash occurred at Kabaale-Bugonzi along Masaka-Kampala Highway involving motor vehicles, Isuzu Bus registration number UBP 964T belonging to Jaguar Bus Company and Isuzu Elf number UAV 988N.

It is alleged that the driver of the Jaguar bus while from Kampala to Kigali attempted to overtake an unidentified vehicle by drifting into the opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming Isuzu Elfu. The bus rolled multiple times, claiming the lives of eight passengers and injuring 20 others.

Prompt response from territorial police ensured victims received medical attention at Masaka Referral Hospital, while the deceased were conveyed to the hospital’s mortuary.

Both vehicles have been towed to Lukaya Police Station for further investigation.

“We urge all road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to traffic regulations, especially when overtaking, to prevent such tragic crashes,” a traffic police statement on X stated.
