Five people have been confirmed dead in a road accident which happened on Friday morning on Kampala-Gulu Highway.
Savan Region Police spokesman, Sam Twinamazima has only identified one body of the five dead people of Alex Muwanga who is a mechanic.
Twinamazima said that they confirmed 24 people who survived the deadly accident with severe injuries and that they were rushed to Nakasongola Health Centre III for first aid.
The accident is said to have involved a bus belonging to California Bus Company registration number UBB 538K, a Fuso UBC 209A and a Isuzu lorry UBK 688C. The accident happened at Migeera Village on Kampala-Gulu Highway.
Eyewitnesses said that the bus first rammed into a stationed Isuzu lorry which had got a mechanical problem and later it hit a Fuso.
“Muwanga, a mechanic, was knocked as he was working on the Isuzu lorry which had developed a mechanical problem and he died instantly. We also counted other four people who died on spot,” said one of the residents.
The Police are also hunting for a bus driver who knocked dead two pilgrims on Kampala-Masaka Road on Thursday.
This accident happened at Nabbingo on Masaka Road, in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District during the wee hours of the night.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson identified the deceased as Specioza Nambi and Oliva Nabakooza from Makondo Parish in Masaka diocese.
Owoyesigyire said that the driver of the bus registration number UAL 882 Z of Perfect Bus Company took off after knocking the pilgrims.
