The Police in Iganga district are hunting for a night guard who last week cut his wife to death on allegations that she had been continuously going out with other men in extra marital affairs.
Mawazi Mulamba (55) of Nampirika B village in Nakalama sub-county, Iganga district is said to have killed Fatuma Nekesa (35) after he got disgusted with her cheating ways, and later fled.
Police were by press time still hunting for the suspect. According to Mulamba’s friend identified as Hussein Kakumba, the two have for long been engaging in unending battles over the matter.
It is alleged that last month, the deceased divorced her husband, but was later pardoned by the suspect after she pleaded for forgiveness with promises never to engage in her habits again.
She is however said to have started on her old games which drove her husband’s anger to rise to uncontrollable levels, leading him to cut her throat until she died.
According to the LC I chairperson, Siraje Mukoti, villagers were compelled to force the door of the house open after failing to see either of them for two days, whereupon they found Nekesa’s body lying in a pool of blood. The deceased’s body was taken to Iganga Hospital for postmortem examination.
Busoga East police spokesperson Michael Kafaayo said the body had deep cuts indicating that she had been killed in a brutal manner.
He added that if arrested, Mulamba would be arraigned in court and charged with murder if it is reliably established that he is the one who killed his wife.
