Jinja-Iganga Road Accident Kills Six People in Kakira

Six people were on Thursday morning declared dead and eight others critically injured when taxi they were travelling in rammed into the back of a parked sugarcane truck on the Jinja-lganga Highway at Kakira.

The horrible accident happened at around 3:00am, when a Toyota Hiace popularly referred to as a Drone, registration number UBP 574J travelling from Iganga side rammed into the back of a parked sugarcane truck number UAF 333B.
According to eye witnesses, the speeding taxi from Namisindwa district crashed into the back of the stationary truck, killing six people on the spot.

Mable Asingwire, the Kiira Region Traffic Officer, said that the accident resulted in the loss of six lives and the injured passengers were taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The injured were taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the hospital mortuary.

This stretch is very dangerous for accidents along Jinja-Iganga Highway requiring motorists to take extra caution including speed reductions.
