Acting on an intelligence tip off by the Chief Invigilator overseeing the centre Ambrose Masiko, police got into action and arrested the suspect as he was still writing the examinations.

A student of the Luweero campus of Kampala University has been arrested by Rukungiri Police for sitting a UNEB ‘A level’ examination paper for another person, and charged with impersonation.

The suspect, 23-year-old Cleophas Mbamanyire who is offering a bachelors’ education degree and a resident of Rubabo 2 A cell, Rutunguru parish, Ihunga sub-county in Ntungamo district, was on Thursday 13th November 2025 found sitting a General Paper examination in the names of Akampurira Brenda, a student of Bugangari Secondary School.

According to ASP Maate Elly the police PRO for Kigezi, statements were obtained from relevant witnesses and relevant documents were retrieved from the school, and examination paper confiscated

Maate added that investigations were still ongoing.
