In a bid to enhance data collection and online monitoring of the Parish Development Model (PDM) activities in the district, the government has handed over tablets to 71 parish chiefs and PDM SACCO chairpersons in Kayunga district with the overall goal of improving the efficiency of the program.

Through PDM in Kayunga district, government has so far released sh14.75bn to 15,498 households out of the 40,000 in the district, but only sh85m has been recovered.

According to Dr. Yiga Charles, the Kayunga District production officer and PDM coordinator, the program has been experiencing delays in data and statistics collection, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, and expressed optimism that with acquisition of the gadgets, the process is expected to run more smoothly.

Kayunga District Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mariam Sseguya Nalubega, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the program, and urged parish chiefs to refrain from using the tablets on divergent purposes other than those for which they are intended. She also reminded them that the program is intended to benefit all Ugandans, not just the wealthy.

However, some parish chiefs stated they are computer illiterate and need some training before starting to apply the gadgets. In this light, Kirindi Nazigo PDM SACCO chairperson, Abdu Mukasa appealed to technicians to provide some training to the beneficiaries for the tablets to be used effectively.
