Late Bp. Kawuma’s Widow Marks 90 Years

Geraldine Kawuma, the celebrant thanked the Lord for the gift of life for 90 years, during which he has blessed her with children, friends, service in the church, in the education sector and helping women prosper through their associations.

Geraldine Ritah Nabuli Kawuma, the widow of the third Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, the late Misaeri Kawuma, has celebrated her 90th birth anniversary with a thanksgiving service at Namirembe Cathedral conducted by retired Kampala Asst Bishop, Hannigton Mutebi.

The service was attended by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga who thanked the late prelate’s family for support and service to the Buganda monarchy.

Addressing the congregation, Mayiga hailed the celebrant for standing by her late husband and in bringing up children who love their king and the kingdom. The Katikkiro added that 32 years ago, the late Bp. Kawuma crowned Prince Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, now the Kabaka of Buganda, and assisted the return of the royal throne to Namirembe Cathedral, following civil wars that rocked the country.

Retired Assistant Bishop Hannington Mutebi in his homily, implored believers to love and respect God who he said is the source of civilization, and reminded them to always thank God for all forms of achievements in their life.

Bishop Misaeri Kawuma died of suspected heart failure on 7th October 2017 aged 68 as he was being taken to Mengo Hospital for treatment.
