Man Arrested in Mukono Over Alleged Murder of Brother in Land Dispute

Police in Mukono have arrested 25-year-old Innocent Adungu, who allegedly fled to the area after killing his elder brother in a dispute over family land in Oyam District.

Adungu, a member of the Okii Amat clan and a resident of Amiatigo Village in Otwal Sub-county, is accused of murdering his 29-year-old brother, Phillip Erong, on January 10, 2026. The fatal incident is reported to have stemmed from a long-standing disagreement over family land.

According to clan spokesperson Sadam Okullu Onimo, local leaders collaborated closely with security agencies to track down the suspect. Using mobile phone tracking technology, investigators were able to trace Adungu’s movements to Mukono, where he had reportedly been hiding for nearly a month.

He was arrested and is currently detained at Mukono Central Police Station (CPS). Authorities have indicated that he will be transferred back to Oyam to face murder charges.

The arrest comes at a time of growing concern over rising murder cases in the Lango sub-region, with community leaders calling for peaceful conflict resolution, particularly in matters involving land disputes, which remain a persistent source of tension in many rural communities.
