Mitchell is said to have opened fire with seven shots at Walton on September 16, 2022, according to court documents.
A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 66 years after the court found him guilty of shooting his son’s mothers to death in front of their nursery kid which she had just dropped at school.
Orlando Mitchell is said to have opened fire and shot his former girlfriend Krystal Walton (32) outside Charity Child Care, their child’s nursery school in Indianapolis, where she had been dropping off their son.
Mitchell is said to have opened fire with seven shots at Walton on September 16, 2022, according to court documents.
The convict is to spend 66 years in the Indiana Department of Correction. A jury found him guilty of killing Walton at around 7:30am after lying in wait.
Authorities said he ran up to her as she walked back to her car after dropping off their son and then shot her before running off.

Body camera footage during his arrest reportedly heard him say: “I shot that b**” and “I shot that b** in the face.” Police also said that there were many witnesses who saw the shooting including children.
Mitchell had been outside the nursery for around 90 minutes as he was deliberating over the attack.
And it is understood that Walton had a protective order taken out against Mitchell and she had told police that she was afraid of him.
Mitchell was found by police and shot in a stand-off as he aimed a gun at officers before being arrested, according to WRTV.
In court documents Mitchell’s mother told police that he had threatened to kill Walton and himself in a murder-suicide and claimed he was upset at not being able to see his one-year-old son.
“If he couldn’t see his son, she wasn’t gonna be in his life either,” the mother told police, according to an affidavit. The victim’s father Christopher Walton called Mitchell a “creepy predator”.
He reportedly said: “She didn’t stand a chance and this creepy predator violently and viciously attacked her.”
Mitchell now faces decades in prison and he is also due in court over another murder charge, following the death of Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy John Durm, when he tried to escape from the Marion County jail, CBS 4 Indy reports.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty over Sheriff Durm’s alleged killing when Mitchell had been transported for a medical appointment.
He is said to have attacked the officer and choked him with his handcuffs before crashing the vehicle he was being transported in and he was recaptured a short time later.
Mitchell is charged with murder, robbery and escape in connection with Sheriff Durm’s case and the trial is scheduled for August.
