Masaka City Woman MP, Justine Nameere, was reportedly arrested by plain-clothed operatives and taken to an unknown location on Thursday evening.

Nameere was on her way to Liberation Square in Masaka City around 8:30 PM, concluding a drive through the city after her swearing-in in Kampala. She was traveling in a convoy with supporters when a white Toyota Hiace with covered number plates suddenly blocked their route.

According to one supporter, who requested anonymity, the operatives ordered Nameere out of her Range Rover before driving her away.

“All was moving on well, we had gone through the city streets well, until we were blocked by unknown security personnel on our route to the Liberation Square through the circular road in Masaka City,” the supporter said. “They ordered Hon Nameere out of her vehicle and took her away to an unknown place.”

Southern Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye said authorities were not aware of the arrest and were still investigating the incident.

“We are not aware of the said arrest, but we have started investigating what could have happened,” Kasirye said.

The circumstances surrounding Nameere’s detention remain unclear, and no official explanation has been provided regarding her whereabouts or the reasons for her arrest.
