Ndege, who identified Musasizi as an NUP supporter, alleged that at one polling station, he took a voters’ register and tore it up after the candidate he supported lost the election.
A post-election dispute in Buvuma District has led to the arrest of a sub-county chairperson affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and four others over allegations of violence, arson, injuring animals and impersonation.
Geoffrey Buwonya Musasizi, 45, the Nairambi Sub-county chairperson, is among five suspects arrested in connection with incidents reported in Mubaale Village, Nairambi Sub-county, between August and September 2026.
The other suspects are Christopher Okello Wandera, 40, the Namugombe Parish chairperson; David Mangeni, 53; Issa Mpala, 27; and Nicholas Bateganya, 32.
Sezibwa Regional Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto said the suspects are accused of involvement in activities targeting Ddamulira Saaka, who was declared the duly elected Mubaale Village LC1 chairperson, and his supporters.

Police allege that Isma Malinzi, who lost the Mubaale LC1 election, later teamed up with Musasizi, Wandera and others in an attempt to challenge the elected leadership.
According to Butoto, the group allegedly held secret meetings at night and attempted to establish an alternative local council administration in the same village.
The alleged activities reportedly heightened tensions in the community and were followed by incidents in which some residents’ houses were allegedly set on fire and animals injured.
Police also accuse Malinzi of allegedly impersonating Saaka by presenting himself as the Mubaale Village LC1 chairperson and appointing people to a local council committee, despite not being the elected chairperson.
Saaka reportedly sought police intervention after the situation allegedly escalated.
Butoto said investigations were continuing and efforts were underway to trace other suspects who remain at large.
Musasizi Arrested After Security Meeting
Musasizi’s arrest came after a land security meeting held on Friday at Bulugulu Village by State Minister for Fisheries and Buvuma MP Robert Migadde Ndugwa.
The meeting was attended by the Buvuma District Police Commander, District Internal Security Officer (DISO), Woman MP Judith Naggujja Nsubuga and other local leaders.
During the meeting, Musasizi reportedly said he had received several police summons but was not prepared to honour them because he considered the allegations against him unfounded.
“They also sent the summons through the village chairperson, I advise police to get someone of my level of leadership to deliver the summons to me,” he said. Despite the DPC’s attendance of the meeting, he did not respond to him.
He was later allegedly arrested on his way home from the meeting on Friday evening and is currently being held at Buvuma Central Police Station.
RDC Warns Against Election Violence
Buvuma Resident District Commissioner Hajat Hawa Ndege said Musasizi had also allegedly been involved in disruptions at some polling stations in his sub-county during the LC1 elections.

She warned local leaders against using political disagreements to fuel violence or undermine elected leadership.
“We are not ready to accept such conduct from our leaders because it gives a wrong and bad impression to the people they are leading,” Ndege said.
Police said the suspects will face the appropriate charges upon completion of investigations.
