The social media is awash with a video clip showing a gentleman who is identified as the Director of King James School of Nursing and Midwifery in Lira City who is thoroughly canning a man said to be a boyfriend to one of the female students.
After seriously beating the yet to be identified man, also the female student who is said that she is the one who this man had gone to visit was also brought by two men and she also received the countless canes.
The video has been interpreted by the social media users in different ways, some supporting the director saying that as a person who is in charge of the students’ security and their wellbeing in the nursing school, what he did was right, giving protection to the students under his custody.
However, others are castigating him saying what he did is assault and that he must be arrested and face the charges.

They say, he should have arrested the intruder and hand him to police. He would therefore have faced charges including criminal trespass among others.
This comes at a time when the Minister for Internal Affairs, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire had just issued a circular warning the teachers and heads of education institutions against corporal punishment.
Otafiire advised the teachers to devise other means of punishing the students for wrong doing other than subjecting them to corporal punishment.
Otafiire asked police and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. It is currently not known whether police will swing into action to have the director of King James School of Nursing and Midwifery arrested or not.
