Police Crackdown on Kampala, Mukono Crime Hotspots Nets 111 Suspects

In a bid to tackle crime in Greater Kampala Metropolitan Areas, police have conducted a series of operations targeting areas known for drug abuse, robbery, and theft.

A joint operation in Mukono on Tuesday night led to the arrest of 11 suspects found smoking marijuana and engaging in other illicit activities. The suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution.

In a separate operation dubbed “FUKUZA MAFISADI”, police and local leaders swooped on crime hotspots in central Kampala, arresting 100 suspects, mostly youth, involved in snatching phones and bags, and stealing vehicle parts. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon after the investigations.

The operations aim to dismantle criminal networks and restore safety in the city, with more crackdowns expected.

The police operations were part of a broader effort to combat crime in Kampala, targeting areas where criminals often prey on unsuspecting citizens. The joint operation in Mukono was conducted late at night, catching suspects off guard. Those arrested are being held at police facilities pending prosecution.
