The police’s swift response is said to have followed a tip from an informant who alerted the security operatives that a white Ipsium vehicle, registration number UAP 032E, was transporting 11 suspected stolen goats and had been intercepted by local residents.
The Police in Nwoya district have recovered an SMG rifle that had been used to terrorise the local community and the surrounding areas.
Rusoke Kituuma, the Police spokesperson says the recovery of this gun followed the operation conducted on June 14, 2025, in Paminyai sub-county, Nwoya District.
The police’s swift response is said to have followed a tip from an informant who alerted the security operatives that a white Ipsium vehicle, registration number UAP 032E, was transporting 11 suspected stolen goats and had been intercepted by local residents.
“Police responded promptly and arrested Omony Dicken, a 28-year-old broker from Pece-Laroo Division in Gulu City. During interrogation, the suspect led officers to the recovery of the SMG rifle, which was found hidden in the bush near an electric pole in Purongo sub-county, Nwoya District,” Kituuma said in a statement, adding that; “The firearm was recovered without ammunition.”
He confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspects and accomplices involved in the case.
He also appreciated the community’s cooperation, which was instrumental in recovery of this weapon.
