The Prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja on Saturday faced the wrath of Basoga when she was booed while addressing the people of Busoga who had gathered in thousands to celebrate the 11th Coronation Anniversary of the Kyabazinga of Busoga Isabirye William Gabula Nadiope IV.

Nabbanja had represented the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and after reading his speech, she asked Basoga to support him in the coming presidential elections.

Without any fear, the masses started booing the Prime Minister, a sign of disrespect and not supporting what she was telling them.

Nabbanja however insisted on telling them that whether they want or not, come 2026, President Museveni will receive overwhelming support to the extent that he will also win the opposition stronghold districts of Kampala and the entire Buganda region at large.

Though of recent the people of Busoga have turned against the ruling regime to the extent that even the last general elections, the leading opposition party, (NUP) swept most of the elective positions, but the recently concluded NRM national delegates conference held at Kololo ceremonial grounds seemed to have added salt into the injury when the most valued leader in Busoga, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga was overwhelmingly won by the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among.

Kadaga’s loss was not taken for granted, as the Busoga kingdom diehards took it as a sign of malice to Kadaga who is believed to have worked tirelessly for the good of NRM and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as a person.

It was during those NRM CEC campaigns that people in Busoga started a saying that ‘No Kadaga No Vote’, sending the message to all of the NRM leaders who wish to stand in the forthcoming elections to stand warned.

Without any hesitation, Kadaga pointed fingers at President Museveni when she accused him of being the force behind Anita Among, a person whom she said had just joined NRM three years ago at her own expense despite her loyalty and support for NRM since its inception.

The public clash between President Museveni and Kadaga happened during the CEC meeting held at State House Entebbe on Saturday August 23, 2025.

“I have been a member of this party since inception. I started as an LC1 chairperson in 1999. I have never joined any other party. My loyalty is unquestionable,” Kadaga told delegates, drawing loud applause.

“When you fill the expression of interest form, you are asked what you have done for NRM in the last ten years. Those guidelines have not been changed. The person aspiring to this office has only worked for three years. Whether she was doing work elsewhere is her business, but for NRM, it is only three years. We cannot gerrymander the rules,” she charged.

Outside the Prime Minister’s booing, the colorful 11th Coronation of the Kyabazinga was held on September 13th, 2025 at Busoga Kingdom headquarters’ ground in Butembe Chiefdom, Jinja City and was attended by thousands of people, under the theme ‘A Malaria Free Busoga for Generations to Come’.

In his address, the Kyabazinga called for continued unity among his subjects in order to enhance development.

He further called upon stakeholders to join in the fight against Malaria and the causes of teenage pregnancies in Busoga sub region.
