Police in Kireka have arrested a key suspect in connection with the murder of a local government official who was fatally stabbed last week in Kira Municipality.

The incident occurred in the early hours of March 26, 2026, at around 6:00am in Kamuli A Zone. The victim, 44-year-old Omaido Moses, sustained a severe stab wound at his residence and later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the fatal attack stemmed from a misunderstanding at the victim’s home involving two suspects—Agadi Oliver and Aliya Nakimera.

Agadi Oliver was initially arrested shortly after the incident to assist with ongoing inquiries.

In the latest development, police have confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect, Aliya Nakimera, who had fled to Mityana District following the attack. She is now in custody and is expected to face formal charges.

Speaking on the matter, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said investigations are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued as inquiries continue into the tragic death.
