The proprietor of Hormisdallen Schools, Kizito Mukalazi, has died, this website has learnt.

Details surrounding his death remain scanty, but it is reported that he passed away on Friday.

In a statement released by the school management, the institution expressed deep sorrow at the loss of its founder and director. “It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved director, Mr. Kizito Mukalazi. We are united in grief yet grateful for a legacy whose care lives on,” the statement read.

Mukalazi founded Hormisdallen Schools in 1986, starting with a single campus in Kampala, located off Mawanda Road in Kamwokya. What began as a nursery school has since grown into a mixed day and boarding nursery and primary institution.

Over the years, the school expanded to multiple branches, including campuses in Kyebando along Erisa Road, Gayaza off Bugema Road, and Darline School in Kiteezi.

Hormisdallen Schools have attracted learners from across Uganda and the wider East African region, including pupils from Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Sudan. The institution is widely regarded as one of the top-performing schools in national examinations.

Mukalazi’s death marks the end of an era for one of Uganda’s notable private education pioneers.
