Katungi is reported to have disappeared from the school at around 9:00 p.m. on April 23 during evening prep. His disappearance sparked a joint search effort involving his parents and law enforcement, which lasted several days until his recovery today on Friday May 1, 2026.

According to police, Katungi left the classroom after his science teacher, Emmanuel Agaba, allegedly sent him to retrieve his original exam paper following suspicions of altered marks.

Earlier this week, detectives in Entebbe reviewed CCTV footage and questioned school staff as part of efforts to determine how the pupil managed to leave a school said to have adequate security measures in place.
