Fear gripped residents of Upper Kauga Cell in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality following the gruesome murder of a private security guard from the rented apartments belonging to the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu.

The deceased has been identified as Patrick Okware (35) who has been attached to Marvel Security Limited.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson told Kyaggwe TV that the incident happened on Tuesday morning.

Onyango said that the unknown assailants, after cutting Okware on the head, disappeared with his gun.

He says that the deceased’s body had two deep wounds on the left hand side next to the ear which was also cut. The body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

“On August 6, 2024 at around 6:00am one Michael Kenga woke up after hearing someone outside screaming. Upon checking, he discovered their security guard who was in charge of their security at the Kazimba hostels lying down in a pool of blood,” Onyango revealed.

He added that Kenga immediately carried the victim into his vehicle and rushed him to Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital from where he was pronounced dead.

He later reported the matter to Mukono Police which swung into action, starting with the investigations.

Onyango said that the prime suspect in this murder is Okware’s colleague, with whom they have been guarding the facility together. Police have only identified the prime suspect as Wilber who is currently on the run.

Police arrested the caretaker of the facility identified as Alice Nyachwo (36) to aid in the investigations.

When contacted on phone for a comment, Peter Muwanguzi who is in charge of this business on behalf of the Archbishop Kazimba declined to provide any information saying that they were not interested in publicizing the matter.

Muwanguzi added that they had provided police with all the required information whereby speaking again to the media would jeopardize the investigations.

David Ssemwogerere, the Upper Kauga Cell secretary for defense, called for Police and other security organizations to beef up their cell’s security which is so wanting these days.
