Court heard that during the night of June 9, 2025 at Nsuube ‘A’ Cell in Mukono Central Division, using a fake pistol gun and sticks, the suspects abducted Wayengera and Christine Najjabi, and they later beat Wayengera till he died.
Seven accused persons on charges of killing the Finance Director of Compassion International Uganda, Godfrey Wayengera have been arraigned in court, charged and remanded to Luzira Prison.
The suspects include; Ashraf Tumusiime also known as Obadiah (40), Fahad Kasolo (30), Mike Ssenteza also known as Mwagamwaga (40), Sgt. Muhammad Mwesigye popularly called Jet Lee (50) who is a UPDF deserter, Cpl. Mugabe Borban, attached to Military Police at Kololo, Derrick Keeya, Dauda Kyangwe, and others still at large.
They have been charged before the Grade One Magistrate, Elizabeth Peace Lamunu who has read to them four counts of murder, kidnap and aggravated robbery.

They dumped his body at a nearby Cell of Namumira near the railway line by the roadside.
Prosecution led by the Resident Chief State Attorney, Emily Ninsiima informed court that after abducting the two, they robbed them of their property including; Wayengera’s SAMSUNG mobile phone SMA256E estimated at about sh1.3m, a laptop of the DELL Latitude 5420 type estimated at sh3m, while Najjabi lost a mobile phone TECHNO Spark 10 estimated at sh800,000.
Ninsiima told court that investigations in this case are still ongoing, and applied that the accused persons be remanded to give room for peaceful investigations.
The magistrate denied the accused any chance to take any plea before court, urging that the nature of their offences, being capital, they are only tried in the high court. She however advised them that they have the right to apply for bail but only in the High Court.
She therefore remanded them to August 7, when they will re-appear for mention of their cases.
The courtroom has been filled to capacity by the relatives of the deceased led by his wife, Miriam Wayengera and their elder daughter. Miriam upon looking at the suspected killers of her husband she broke down into tears.
They were arrested from various places by various security operatives following a directive from President Yoweri Museveni to do everything possible to apprehend Wayengera’s killers.

According to security sources, the gang headed by Tumusiime, had been operating in the Greater Mukono area and were previously involved in criminal activities, including highway robberies.
Tumusiime was arrested at Kussatu on Kayunga Road in Nama sub-county, Mukono district,
Ssenteza was picked from a hideout in Busawuli ward, Wakiso district, Kasolo was arrested from Kireka, Wakiso district, while Mwesigye and Mugabe were arrested from Kagugube, Wandegeya in Kampala.
Wayengera was also the director of Beloved Daycare and Nursery School located in Nsuube A Cell, Mukono Central Division.
