Tanga Odoi Disqualifies Youth MP Aspirant from NRM Party Primaries

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi has disqualified Fiona Nakku from the party primaries for the Youth Member of Parliament seat.

Nakku, a sister to NRM national treasurer, Barbara Nekesa Oundo has been disqualified on grounds that she is above the stipulated age bracket for the youth leader in Uganda of 18-30 years.

According to Dr. Tanga’s disqualification letter to Nakku, it states that the confirmation from National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) that she is 31 years of age was enough to confirm that she is not an eligible candidate for the youth MP slot.

Nakku is said to have participated in the race for Busia Woman MP in 2021 and lost.
