Three ‘Doctors’ Charged For Causing Death Dubai-Based Pregnant Woman

The three were arrested by the State House Health Monitoring Unit who got wind that a woman staying in Dubai, had flown back home to deliver whereupon she was referred to these people by a colleague.

Buganda Road court magistrate Ronald Kayizzi has remanded three men who, said to be masquerading as medical doctors. They are alleged to have caused the death of Ritah Nansubuga, working and staying in Dubai, UAE, whom they operated to remove a foetus and she died in the process.

Henry Francis Kadaga (47) of Kiwonvu Mulago II in Kawempe Division, Hassan Budhugo (43), a resident of Gitta village in Gayaza Kasangati, and Joel Kiwanuka, proprietor of Sunset Consultants Clinic Mulago, denied the charges and were accordingly remanded to Luzira.

The three were arrested by the State House Health Monitoring Unit who got wind that a woman staying in Dubai, had flown back home to deliver whereupon she was referred to these people by a colleague.

It is alleged that the offence was committed on September 4, 2025 at Sunset Clinic in Mulago when the accused persons illegally conducted the ill-fated surgery in a place said not to conform to medically acceptable standards, leading to her death.

They were also charged with the offence of conniving to commit a felony, leading to death of a person. They denied the offences.

Prosecution led by Grace Amy informed the court that investigations into this case are ongoing and asked for more time to enable him complete the investigations. The case will resume on October 8, 2025.
