Allegations circulated that the children may have been killed and their bodies placed in a nearby refrigerator that was reportedly not functioning.

Residents of Kisiita Town Council in Kakumiro District remain gripped by shock and sorrow following the mysterious deaths of two four-year-old boys in Kisiita West Cell.

The deceased have been identified as Charles Muramuzi, son of local businessman Charles Nasasira, and John Paul Twesigomwe, son of Frank Twesigomwe Muntu.

According to residents, the two close friends were seen playing together on Wednesday evening before they were reported missing at around 8:30 p.m., prompting a frantic search by their families and concerned neighbours.

As anxiety spread across the tight-knit community, dozens of residents joined in combing the area, calling out the children’s names and checking nearby homes and trading premises. At approximately 10:00 p.m., the search ended in tragedy when the boys’ lifeless bodies were discovered on the veranda of Nasasira’s wholesale shop.

Speculation quickly spread among stunned residents, some of whom—speaking on condition of anonymity—suspected foul play. Allegations circulated that the children may have been killed and their bodies placed in a nearby refrigerator that was reportedly not functioning.

Police officers from Kakumiro District responded swiftly to the scene, cordoning off the area and launching investigations. A sniffer dog was deployed to assist in gathering evidence as detectives worked late into the night to piece together what had happened. The bodies were later transported to Kakumiro Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.

Kakumiro District Police Commander, David Otabong, said the postmortem report indicated that the children died of suffocation. Preliminary findings suggest that while playing, the boys may have opened and entered an old, non-functioning refrigerator where they became trapped and eventually suffocated.

The revelation has done little to ease the anguish of residents, many of whom are struggling to come to terms with how an innocent childhood game could end in such devastating loss.

The grief-stricken parents were too distraught to speak to the media, as the community continues to mourn two young lives cut tragically short.
