The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has cancelled primary leaving examinations (PLE) results for 3,513 pupils in 73 schools in 27 districts, owing to examinations malpractices including receiving assistance from invigilators, outright copying and other relates wrongdoings.
In a statement issued by UNEB Chairman, Dan Odongo, it was stated that affected learners will not be allowed to proceed to secondary education or any other subsequent level of education, and only have the alternative of doing a retake.
Odongo said all secondary education managers have been advised not to offer vacancies to any learner falling in that category. All this followed UNEB’s meeting with former pupils in the affected schools, and it was established beyond reasonable doubt that they engaged in malpractices of different forms.
The affected schools are located in Buganda, Busoga, Ankole, Bunyoro, Kigezi, Bukedi and Rwenzori regions.
