Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) in conjunction with Uganda Police have registered a total of 25 cases pertaining to examination malpractice both at UCE and PLE Level.

Jennifer Kalule, the UNEB spokesperson says the 25 cases were reported to police and are  being investigated.

“Ten of these cases are in respect of UCE while 15 are in respect of PLE.  Some of the suspects are out on police bond as investigations continue, while others have appeared in court and the culprits remanded to prison,” Kalule said through a communication on UNEB’s X handle.
She said the UCE exams were successfully completed last week, without any major challenges.

“There was NO reported LEAKAGE, exposing some candidates to prior knowledge of any of the UCE examination papers. There were however other forms of examination malpractice that ranged from impersonation, external assistance to candidates, destroying of examination materials, mainly security envelopes carrying examination papers, as well un authorised possession and electronic sharing of content or information purported to be UNEB examination papers,” she said.

Kalule adde that some of these cases were reported to police, and the suspects will appear in court to answer to different charges.

She asserted that other cases will however be handled by the Board’s Examination Security Committee.
